Your article is so true of our south bay beaches south of LAX as well.
Lots of homeowners…with rental investments don’t have to sell so are simi motivated…the wait and see sellers meet the wait and see buyers..50% with inman saying 50% reo short sale…except not here very much. where are those wanting to sell? In escrow!

We had one up our way about 6months ago (SF Bay Area). I was in a older tall building in San Francisco which can actually amplify the feeling because the building actually sways.

To outsiders reading in… earthquakes aren’t that bad. Can catch you off gaurd, but that’s about it. Way better than tornados!

Michael, I just found you through LinkedIn and am reading your blog for the first time. I’ve bookmarked it in my Reader. I would add to the online exposure and disclosure expertise the agent network (more exposure)! You and I are an example of this. The more our networks grow, the more beneficial that resource is to our clients. I just identified a potential home for my buyer clients that is not on the market. I mentioned their needs to a Realtor friend, she contacted her clients, they said they’d be willing to sell. 99.9% of homeowners on the San Mateo County coastal communities use a Realtor.

I’ve found that buyers have a Two Bucks Chuck budget but want the Napa Cabernet. Once they taste the good stuff, it’s no going back. If buyers see home beyond their means, they are reluctant to “settle” for what they realistically can afford.

I don’t know what is scarier: knowing how easy it is for burglars with bump keys to enter your home, or the Channel 7 report possibly giving the idea of bump keys to potential burglars.
