Some people, when selling, have a difficult time telling the truth about their home. They are afraid if they disclose negative items, they will scare the buyer away or somehow, hurt the deal. When I represent a seller, I urge full disclosure about everything using the required California Transfer Disclosure Statement (TDS). It’s better to put up a caution flag to a buyer than face a judge in court. Cheaper too.
Homeowners trying to sell without professional assistance, sometimes take it to another level. Downward I would suggest. Maybe too much information is not a good thing. For Sale by Owner’s (FSBO) take note – If you want to sell your home, consider your signage – if you need advice, contact me.
Honesty is a good thing, but, do you really think using ad copy as shown below will get buyers salivating over your home?
Let me know what you think of this photo. I’m sure many of us have felt this way about a neighbor…but do we really want the world to know? What happens if you don’t sell and you’re stuck?
What are your thoughts?

Mark,
I have to say, I find that hilarious. I’ll give it to the owner – they are getting the disclosure out of the way right out of the gates. I suspect, they may be looking for the added benefit of irritating the neighbor as much as attempting to sell. Thanks for a chuckle this morning!!
Hi Linsey…Thanks for commenting. Yep, when a friend sent this photo to me I roared. Who hasn’t felt this at one time or another. But to put it out there as a selling tool. Yikes! What are they thinking?
By the way…my name is Michael…but you can call me Mark. Didn’t Paul Simon write a song something like that?
Have fun out there!
I think that is out of control. It is a personal issue, it is not good for anyone. Unless it is a joke, the seller could have a little bit of problems displaying that sign. I think the neighbors may be able to site an assault or something. Never the less this is wild!
Ahhh Snap, that’s to funny. I don’t know much about real estate law, but that sellers is putting it all out on the table.
Oh my, how funny. Trey just sent me this post, he thought I’d get a good laugh and I did
Michael, do you think we can use the pic, pretty please.
That is pretty funny…lol.
